We're flying to Tobago via Trinidad. Will we go through customs in Trinidad or Tobago?

Hi Trish

What did your travel agent or BWIA reservations agent tell you would happen when you asked this question?

Hi Trish,
Customs is cleared at the first port of entry. You will have to pick up your bags in Port of Spain and take them trough customs before getting on the connecting flight.

We booked online through Orbitz, so I didn't talk to anybody...

Hi Trish,

I've had flights from the States to Tobago that stopped for about 25 minutes in Trinidad. Folks going on to Tobago were told not to leave the plane during the 25 minute stop and we did not go through customs until we arrived in Tobago. It probably depends on your itinerary and how long you'll actually be in Trinidad.

BWIA is not always prompt or efficient, but the flights I've had with them were always comfortable and the food was great.
