Top O' Tobago comprises three self-contained studio apartment 'cabanas', plus a 1-bedroom main cottage (with external access to a small 2nd bedroom). All guests have shared use of the swimming pool. This seriously compromises the privacy of guests in the main cottage.

Top O’ Tobago is a six acre property containing a large main house (1800ft2/ 200m2), three cabanas (studio apartments) and a swimming pool, nestled among extensive gardens atop a hill overlooking the Caribbean Sea. At Top O Tobago there are 360 degree views of coastlines and hillsides, patios and gardens, orchards and forests, and original works of art. Indoor and outdoor spaces flow as one. The main house and each cabana have its own kitchen, dining patio and garden, and share common access to the pool and barbecue areas.
It is a five minute walk to Arnos Vale Bay, a world class snorkeling beach, as well as to the start of the Mot Mot Trail, a well recommended hiking trail; or you can walk around the numerous nature paths which exist on the property. It is a short drive to the only airport on the island, the capital city of Scarborough, and numerous tourist amenities.
Top O’ Tobago is a leader in environmental care. We use natural ventilation; treat our drinking water; re-use our gray water for irrigation; and compost our organic waste.

Wow, what a place! We spent 6 nights at TOT staying in Cabana 1 and 3, the former being nearest the villa, while the latter is next to a small parking area. All the cabanas are attractively styled and have a similar layout – a large open plan bedroom/kitchen area and a separate bathroom with shower. Each is colourfully decorated having a front door with porch and rear double doors to a small private terrace with a beautiful ceramic table, 4 chairs and a roof over. We spent most of our time here when not out exploring or swimming in the fabulous pool – a pool to die for! Note – it is shared with the other guests but we seemed to have it completely to ourselves at sundown.
At breakfast, which we shared with the local birdlife – particularly 2 blue crested mots mots that joined us each morning without fail – also, and not forgetting the two house dogs that would also drop by to check we were still OK! Each cabana has its own internet router so this was also a good time to catch up with distant friends – making them every envious no doubt.
We had already spent a week of the island near Parlatuvier so we were fairly independent; however, the wonderful Silja was always on hand to check we were OK, offering advice and guidance when requested and on occasion, stopping for a social chat.
In terms of location, Arnos Vale didn’t offer us much. We tended to head south towards Mt Irvine Beach and Buccoo. The former has good changing facilities and a beach bar. It also offers safe bathing and easy snorkeling. The nearby Fish Pot restaurant provides an excellent, good value lunch with sea views. The roads south of Plymouth are like super highways compared to the remoter parts of Tobago, so getting to these locations was relatively quick and easy. Go for it, but do watch out for vendors selling Nylon pool boat trips at hugely inflated prices – go direct!
Thanks Silja for a fabulous stay!

Top O Tobago is a gem. We spent 2 fantastic weeks there in December and enjoyed every minute. The cabanas are well equipped and comfortable, and the veranda is great for bird watching and just hanging out. The hilltop location has great views on all sides, with cooling, refreshing breezes. All in all this is a great place to stay; it is beautiful, has great staff and is well run, and is very welcoming and very relaxed. Absolutely no hesitation in giving this the highest rating.
