travel adaptors

Post by Mandy »

Have been looking for a travel adaptor to take with us, not sure which one, they seem to be Europe or North America, far East, Would a 2 prong be ok which they advertise for North America?
Also will my hair dryer work at normal power with just a adaptor or will i need a convertor as well?
Am staying in a villa not hotel just in case this makes a difference!!!!!

If your hairdryer doesn't have a switch for the different power, leave it home. it will only blow half speed, you hair dryes faster when you step out on you balcony..... :D

Hi Mandy,
If you feel you must have a hairdryer pick up a dual voltage travel one at the airport on your way out most airport duty free shops have them.

My wife took our UK 240v one on our first trip the best description I can give is imagine a puppy breathing on the back of your neck!!.

Kevin

That's an interesting one.

I'm astonished that you're having difficulty and can't for the life of me think where I got the half-dozen that I have kicking around. I thought they were everywhere. Try any store selling travel goods. Shops selling luggage. Dixons and other electrical stores.

If all else fails, you will get them from several stores at the airport after you've checked in.

Some electric shops in Tobago use to have converters between European type and US-type. One year my own didn´t work so I bought an new one in Canaan, a shop on the mainroad, I don´t remember the name

Hi Mandy,
You can definitely get the UK 3pin to US flat 2 pin at the airport. I all ways have the did you pack the adaptors/ anti mozzy thing etc at the airport as a result we always end up getting a few just in case only to find them packed in the case when we arrive in Tobago.

On the subject of electrical chargers and adaptors. I've found just the thing for all my gadgets that charge via USB computer plugs like, phones PDAs and MP3 players. http://www.proporta.com do dual voltage USB charging transformer It comes with a US 2 pin as standard and common converters for UK and continental plugs.

2 pin flat adaptors are also available in larger supermarkets such as Tescos & Asda. Look around for small displays of travel goods such as luggage straps, etc and you should find them as well. Good luck in finding what you want.
