Great Holiday

From the moment we arrived there Petit Careme was the perfect family villa for our stay. Charmaine Black, our maid, cooked up a lovely dish of chicken and rice for our first meal, and from then on her daily cleaning was completed efficiently and she was always polite and helpful. Many mornings we were woken early by the cheerful cry of the national bird, the Cocrico, and we could sit on the balcony enjoying the beautiful view over the garden while the many birds came to the feeders. The Mot-Mot and the cheeky Bananaquits were particular favourites.

The kitchen provided everything we needed – the huge fridge and ice-maker were welcome - and we had several barbecues on the terrace, in the cool of the evening.

We found the three en-suite bedrooms very spacious and comfortable. All the rooms were equipped with fans to keep us cool at night, so we didn’t need the air conditioning. In each bedside table we found a mosquito repellent which was very helpful; before we discovered these we had a few bites.

We spent many hours enjoying the communal pool in the gardens, but the villa also has a small plunge pool where we could cool down and escape from the heat. Fortunately it is also hidden from the sunlight for most of the day, so it is perfect if you are getting sunburnt and want to be outdoors but out of the sunlight.

Being Mad English we enjoyed the walk across the golf course to get to Mount Irvine beach, where we enjoyed swimming in the surf, snorkelling on the reef close buy – and we made friends with the roti lady for our mid-day snacks.
