Hi Johanna
I´ve sometimes using UK Charter to Tobago when I did have problems to find something else with BA, or before, with Martin Air.
These times I´d go with Ryan Air to Stanstead, sometimes their tickes are really sheap.
From Stansted I use the bus route, National Express, they go via Heathrow down to Gatwick, but that isn´t their final destination.
Not far from Gatwick is the Corner House, a guest house, divided into two houses. The main building has rooms with own bath and the other one with shared baths. The food at the restaurant is OK. They also have a free pick-up service at both Gathwick south and north.
From Gatwick I leave the following morning with Excel, but I have bought my tickets from Golden Caribbean, they use XL down to Tobago. This is their website:
http://www.goldencaribbean.co.uk/
The Corner House has this e-mail address:
[email protected]
But I use to call: +44-1293-78 45 74
In all, a Ryan Air ticket + bus forward & back + and one night at the Corner House, was sometimes better compared with KLM/Martin Air, but not always, and I also had to be in UK one day before. But using RyanAir + XL was sometimes the only choise for me.
The major problem is, as it is two different companies, you aren´t protected in case XL get problems in Tobago so you miss your RyanAir flight! You will have to find and buy a new ticket, and that isn´t always so easy!
There´s also possible to use Condor from Frankfurt, but I don´t like that flight at all. An economy ticket with XL is like Business in Condor! You get much more for the money with XL, and more/better food & service too.
But, this year I´ll go with BA, so I´ll have one night in UK on the way down.
God Luck with your ticket, I´m leaving next month!
Ronald
