First visit to tobago and Rex turtle beach - advice please

Post by Clare »

Hi, i hope that you will be able to help me.
We are going to Turtle beach in August 2004, and need some general advice.
Is there a dress code for dinner
what sort of food is availabe
what sort of drinks are included within the all inclusive range
Is the hotel as neglected as i think after reading all reviews?

any more advice over and above that above would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Clare

Hi Clare

Please read all the reviews, pics and updates on the renovation, plus other visitors' detailed personal experiences of eating/drinking at the Rex Turtle Beach. Then you will be able to relax and look forward to your trip - since you have already booked you have to go with the flow anyway!

All of your questions are answered here in the Rex section of this forum.
Enjoy - forget about the hotel's previous delapidated state - the refurbishment has rendered it looking very nice indeed - although I could never recommend staying locked away in an all inclusive chain-resort I understand that it suits some folk, plus that new pool was inviting when I checked it over.

Hi

I am returning to Rex on my second visit this Saturday 19th feb.
I enjoyed it there and so did everyone else I spoke to.This time will be even better with the new pool but I think I will spend my time on the beach like I did last time.
Rooms are very clean and large, nothing posh but ok for the amount of time you spend in them
Drinks and beer are local brands, cocktails are also in with the inclusive.
Food was ok lots of choice from buffet and if you didnt want that you can choose from menu and pay the difference if its over a certain amount (can't remember how much).Breakfast was full english, continental, fruit and cereals.
Entertainment was on a few nights this was also ok.
I will you give you a further update when I return 7 March.

There is a dress code for dinner but it's not onerous.

Gents wear long trousers. Ladies cover up a bit more.

Buffet food is OK but a bit greasy, soups lousey, fruit wonderful. Roasts tend to be overdone but that is usually due to philistines arriving early and making staff cook it to cardboard. Fish mostly kingfish, grouper when on is worth it.

:?: Hi, I too am thinking of staying at the Rex Turtle Beach but on a RO deal in May but I am struggling to get an idea of the cost of soft drinks, beer, cocktails & meals both at the hotel & at other restauarants & bars so would appreciate some guidance. I understand I would need to use taxis which would be approx £10 return.

I am really hoping to see the turtles as I understand I would be there in the right season, are there certain areas of the beach out of bounds to protect the eggs? Also can anyone tell me is there any chance of seeing dolphins anywhere around the islands too?

Thanks for your help
